O2 change network equipment

Over the next 12 months, as part of the Telefónica Worldwide Strategic Plan for networks, we’re upgrading the 3G sites in every town, city and rural area north of Birmingham to the latest kit.

The next phase of our work will be in West Edinburgh (Cumbernauld, Grangemouth and Livingston) from 13 – 17 February 2012. The impact will vary depending on how many sites we’re working on in the area and how long the work takes.

This means that customers might not get 3G for up to half a day, depending on where they are. In most areas customers will still be able to use 2G, but data services (like the internet) might be slower. In a small number of cases, customer may lose their service entirely for a short time, however we’ll keep this to a minimum. Some customers won’t see any impact at all.

We’ve planned the work so that any disruption is kept to a minimum. However it has to take place during daylight hours, because our engineers will be climbing sites and using heavy equipment and need natural light to be safe.

The Cloud WiFi

From 1 February 2012 The Cloud wifi hotspots won’t be able to be accessed using O2 logins anymore. Customers can still use The Cloud hotspots if they want to, but they may have to re-register with them to do so. Some venues may charge to use The Cloud or other wifi services.

O2 customers will have access to O2 wifi hotspots. O2 wifi is free. Once they’ve signed-up, that’s it. No passwords or usernames to connect. And it won’t eat into a customer’s data allowance. Just quick wifi whenever they’re near one of our hotspots. By 2013, we’re hoping to have 14,000 hotspots across the UK.

Enable all your BBM friends to find your BBM Connected apps via your BBM profile. It’s quick and easy to do!

1) Upgrade to the latest version of BBM (BBM6)

2) Download a BBM Connected app (Wikitude, eBay, Sky Sports Football Score Centre, ESPN Goals, Sky News, The X Factor 2011, BBM Music)

3) Go into BBM

4) Select Options

5) Scroll down to ‘BBM Connected Applications’

6) Select ‘Edit’ against Application Access

7) Select ‘Edit’ against the relevant ‘BBM Connected app (e.g. BBM Music)

Ensure ‘Connect to BBM’ is set to ‘Connected’

We have recently reached an agreement to sponsor

Heston Rovers and supply kits to their under 9 & under 7 squads.

Everyone at Atlas is delighted we are able to support the club in this way and hope the new kits can inspire the young players to great success this season and in the future.

Heston Rovers FC is a Dumfries based club founded in 1978 to provide football for boys in the local community.

The club has grown in recent years and now has over 350 members and has round 50 adult volunteers who keep the wheels turning.

Heston Rovers was the first Dumfries based club to be awarded the Scottish FA’s Quality Mark Award.

It was great to see the excitement on the faces of all of

the children as they wore their strips for the 1st time.

Research In Motion (RIM) The makers of Blackberry, announced today that a selection of premium apps worth a total value of more than US $100 will be offered free of charge to subscribers as an expression of appreciation for their patience during the recent service disruptions. The apps will be made available to customers over the coming weeks on BlackBerry® App World™ and will continue to be available until December 31, 2011.*
